Moses was about to lead the Israelites from Egypt, but God had specific instructions for them Exo 3:22 But every woman shall borrow of her neighbor, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians. Ah yes, steal from the Egyptians before you leave. That's a good plan
God sent Moses to ask Pharaoh to allow the Israelites to go free, but God 'hardened the heart of Pharaoh' because he needed Pharaoh to refuse as an excuse for what happened next. Exo 4:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go. And again Exo 7:2-5 Thou shalt speak all
that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh,
that he send the children of Israel out of his land. And again Exo 14:17-18 And I, behold, I will
harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and
I will get me honor upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots,
and upon his horsemen. So God could not settle for an easy victory, but needed the Egyptians to fight so he could slaughter them as a demonstration of power. Exo 14:26-31 And the LORD said
unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may
come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. Great work indeed. |

Moses came down from the mount with the 10 commandments and found the Israelites dancing and singing and worshipping a golden calf. Exo 32:26-29 Then Moses stood in
the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD's side? let him come
unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto
him. The sons of Levi proved themselves worthy of the Lord by slaughtering their own family members and friends |
